I really like this Riesling, It has everything that good Riesling should have: it is very zesty, nice acidity, minerality, lush scent and it is not overburden with high alcohol like New World wines I tasted recently. More and more I will likely change from Moravian Rieslings to German ones, they usually have much better quality for the price. I got this one for CZK 100 (EUR 4) and its has striking price value ratio. I will get a case for sure.
Before I take my photo of the bottle I have attached the pic from web (tasted bottle is the red one).

I discovered this bottle when organizing my cellar. I quite like wines from Modry sklep. They are usually very good even in their base row, which is this one. The label looks pretty horrible, but the wines are very nice and drinkable. About 4 years ago we used to love Veltlinske Zelene 2002, which was amazing value wine for the price of CZK 70 (EUR 2.7) and I had a case of that wine and my friend as well:). This bottle of Rulandske sede, however, was my last one :(.

Winemaking:
Through gentle maceration and constant remounting, expressive tannic compounds are optimized. Following fermentation at a controlled temperature the wine is aged in American oak barrels for twelve months. It then rests quietly in bottle for another 2 to 3 years to ensure a complete harmonized maturation is achieved.
Awards:
- Expovinos Challenge 2007. Bogotá, Colombia. Silver Medal.
- Decanter World Wine Awards 2006. United Kingdom. Bronze Medal
This is regular reserva for very good price. If I remember it correctly I bought it about 2 years ago for around CZK 150. For this money it is nice drinking wine with, medium body, smooth, not harsh with hints of cherries, spices and vanilla. Comparing to some Riojas I tasted previous months it lacks complexity, but for the price is OK.

Valpolicella Ripasso Tesco Finest 2005

Variety: Corvina, Molinara, and Rondinella
Country of origin: Italy
Wine appellation: Valpolicella
Vintage: 2005
Alcohol content: 13.0%
Color: medium ruby red
Bouquet: black cherries, plums, chocolate
Taste: medium body, black cherries, chocolate, reasonable tannins, feels "european", still slightly harsher tannins and acidity
Recommended food pairing: chocolate cake
Overall score: 80
Price: CZK 199
Stopper: cork
This wine is the "residual" gift our neighbor got from our friend when leaving the Czech Republic. It was quite controversial because we have tasted it as a third bottle. Some people liked it, whilst my girlfriend was not really fond of it. It is cheaper version of Ripasso, but it is a standard quality wine with fruit and chocolate in it. Although it is 2005 vintage, given its tannins it has nice  potential to develop and smooth out in 2 - 4 years easily.

This was very nice example of crianza, very fruity and also combined with vanilla and woody tonnes. I checked after my scoring and Parker gave it 89 points. I would doubt it as I expect something different from 89 points wine. However, this was very nice and especially bouquet was fantastic!

Caliterra Merlot 2001

Recommended food pairing: this one can stand easily on its own, with some hard matured cheeses to complement
Overall score: 86

This wine I got from my boss in 2004, by accident this guy sits in my current company on a board. I found it when organizing my 500 bottles in a cellar (:)) and though it would be nice to open it for my birthday.  And it was. There is something I really like on aged bottles and it is this beautiful color, bricky and very shiny where the years managed to leave the imprints, also the bouquet is quiete distinct. Going towards coffee, spices, canned fruit marmelade and INTEGRATED oak, whereas the youg wines have the oak typically standing out.

Taste: medium body, strawberry marmalade, canned black currant and sour cherries, hint of coffee
Recommended food pairing: pork, turkey

Reasonable Cabernet Sauvignon, got points from the balance developed in a bottle, medium body, generally OK, but younger it would probably be much lower score:)
