Concha y Toro Sunrise Chardonnay 2005

Somehow with the Autumn approaching we are naturally swapping from Sauvignon blancs, Rieslings and Gruner Veltliners to more heavier style of wine like this Chardonnay. I really like this one. It is nicely round with tropical fruit predominant in the nose and taste. I checked my notes from January when we tasted this wine and it is very similar so I will not reproduce them, It seems probably more round now. I scored it 84 points now.

I was so interested in this wine, we were celebrating something and it required special wine. When going through the wine fridge I discovered this Pinot Gris, which we tasted at the wine tasting with my friend about 1.5 years ago. At that time it was a winner so I was eager and interested about its development (especially after my experience with 3 bottles which started to re-ferment even in wine fridge). After opening I was truly delighted about the smell, it is so concentrated that it reminds straw wine, but it is nicely dry with excellent acidity in it and dry fruit flavor. Cool choice, the only pitty is that I think this is the last bottle I have:(

Very mineral style of dry Tokaji wine. In the nose it feels mineral and dry with canned tropicl fruit and apricot tones. It is not aromatic at all, rather gentle. The same is depicted in a taste: very complex, creamy and mineral, rather complex wine. It would not be a choice for lovers of expressive wines as it is rather smoky rich flavored.
Just found this funny review of this wine here:
