Tasted more than two years ago here the wine is perfectly drinkable despite its 10 years of age. It already shows nice terciary bottle tones and fruity aroma changed to benzin tones and minerality so typical for Mikulov area.

Santa Rita 120 Sauvignon Blanc 2009

Felt like gooseberry style Sauv Blanc and were certain to reach for Santa Rita 120. This is the third bottle from March 15, 2013 where you can find the notes, which did not change at all in one month and half:-)

Somehow I am not a fan of white Bordeaux, you can get better Sauvignon blanc from the Czech Republic, leyda valley in Chile or even Sancerre or Pouilly Fumé for this price

Very nice rosé. What  I really like on this is the fact that the grapes most likely were picked earlier and as such kept very clean and fresh nose and very good acidity, which is almost at 2010 vintage tasted here twice in summer 2011.

Domaine Christian Moreau Père et Fils Chablis Vaillon Cuvée Guy Moreau 2011 Premier Cru

Variety: Chardonnay
Country of origin: France
Wine appellation: Chablis
Vintage: 2010
Alcohol content: 12.5%
Color: light yellow
Bouquet: very round, hazelnut, dry apples, minerality, lime
Taste: medium to full body, very nicely layered, similar to nose shows hint of hazelnut character from oak aging, but very gentle anf perfectly balanced by minerality and lime acidity, longer finish
Recommended food pairing: fish
Overall score: 4+9+14+8+8+50=93
Price: CZK 859
Stopper: cork (pressed from very small almost sand pieces)
This one we had very good debate as two of us (including me) claimed part some part of the oak ageing and the other two not. We checked on the web and 35% was barrel aged:-). somehow none can fool me:-). It was very nice and definitely food wine, good combination of minerality and oak, which could be mistaken with best Burgundy. Clearly the best Chablis of the day.

Domaine Christian Moreau Père et Fils Chablis 2010 AOC

Variety: Chardonnay
Country of origin: France
Wine appellation: Chablis
Vintage: 2010
Alcohol content: 12.5%
Color: light yellow
Bouquet: different from the previous sample, there is more fruit in the nose and less minerality, dominant is green apple (golden delicius), followed by hint of almost white flowers and lime
Taste: medium body, similar to nose this is rounder style of Chablis, green apple, feels even slightly sweeter (it is dry, but probably not really bone bone dry), medium to longer finish
Recommended food pairing: fish
Overall score: 4+8+12+6+7+50=87
Price: CZK 559
Stopper: cork (pressed from very small almost sand pieces)
Very different sample from the previous. It is more flowery and fruity in the nose, Majority people would probably prefer it when compared to Jean-Paul & Benoit Droin Chablis 2009 AOC, but I liked Jean Paul  more due to steel sharp minerality and huge austerity. This on blind tasting could not be properly identified as Chablis.

Country of origin: France
Wine appellation: Chablis
Vintage: 2009
Alcohol content: 12.5%

Excellent and stunning minerality both in nose and taste, at the end of the bottle was huge sediment of wine stone:-). This is exactly why Chablis is Chablis, almost no fruit in the nose, just lime and minerality, perfect!

Very good AOC Chablis from Marks & Spencer produced by Bertrand Cherel from http://www.chablisienne.com. crispy, limey and perfectly dry. I wish some Moravian winemakers would produce Chardonnay like this, nicely mineral unoaked and zesty and perfectly almost invisibly aged.

yummie! we opened the wine today for our balcony lunch. We had grilled goat cheese with rucola and cherry tomatoes salad. The bottle finished very very quickly:-) It is better than 2009 vintage tasted in August 2011, mainly due to more freshness and crispier acidity profile.

Now enjoying my sabbatical I often find very good wines in small shops, which must be coming from dodgy deals or I guess lost shipments. This way I found the very first wine on this blog Chardonnay Clos du Bois from Sonoma, in summer 2009. This time I found quite nice looking Corbiere, which from label seemed to be designed to be exported to California, not the Czech Republic:-). Overall it is quite good value/price wine, but there are better choices from Corbieres. I checked the web and some known French guide scored it 84, which to me is a bit generous. I have one more bottle so I will open it after 6 months in the cellar to see if there will be any difference (this one was drastically chilled by the cooler in hot summer evening and brought in hot summer day home in the stroller, so it could have impacted the wine negatively:-)).

Bodega Norton Torrontes 2009

Notes are the same as one month ago, very good choice for Asian food.

This was not pleasant drinking for sure. The wine has strange (faulty) nose and similarly in the taste it feels strange.

Base Bordeaux, the scoring maybe impacted by the fact that we drank it after Chateau Beychevelle 2003 and as such it was noticeably not reaching the level. I was not amazed by anything and considering the price there are far better Bordeaux, even from higher appelation of Cru Borgeois at the same price point.

4th Grand Cru Classe Bordeaux, clearly the best red from yesterday tasting. It is very spicy, stunning nose, excellent flavor, I would prefer hint of more roundness in the mid palate and slightly more fruit, but that would score much higher:-)

Saint Clair Family Estate Vicar's Choice Sauvignon Blanc 2007

Country of origin: New Zealand
Wine appellation: Marlborough
Vintage: 2007

Very nice Sauvignon, I would not guess New Zealand on blind tasting, rather Leyda valley from Chile. I guess 2007 must have been colder vintage. Amazing freshness considering 2007 vintage.
