Lupé-Cholet Comte de Lupé Pinot Noir 2007 AOC

Variety: Pinot Noir
Country of origin: France
Wine appellation: Burgundy
Vintage: 2007
Alcohol content: 12.5%
Color: light red with bricky meniscus
Bouquet: almost nothing there, hint of red currant
Taste: light medium body, wild small cherries, heavy adstringency not making it plesant drinking, shorter finish
Recommended food pairing: nice aged drt cheese
Overall score: 4+6+8+4+4+50=76
Price: gift (on web CZK 350)
Stopper: cork
Good example how the appellation system can be misused. This wine should not receive even AOC, if done on quality not geographical areas. For this money you get far better Moravian Pinot Noir, this one is just drinkable, but not joy.

  1. Wow - 350! It is from the region of Burgundy rather than a sub-appellation? More investigation of the region required (at a more sensible price) I think!
