Variety: not stated
Country of origin: France
Wine appellation: Bordeaux,
Vintage: 1999
Alcohol content: 12.0%
Color: light garnet red with bricky meniscus
Bouquet: strawberry marmalade with wild cherries and good bottle aged tones, but no oxidation
Taste: medium body, sour cherries with good structure balancing the acidity with still good tannins considering the age, medium finish
Recommended food pairing: pork loin in prosciutto
Overall score: 85
Price: ???
Stopper: single piece of cork 40mm
I found the bottle in the cellar and was not sure whether it will be still OK considering 1999 vintage. but when I pulled the long single piece of cork I was hoping it would be OK and it was! I was amazed by the tannins and acidity which made the wine hold perfectly together making it very enjoyable experience. I personally would not on blind tasting guess it is a Bordeaux, rather Nebbiolo.

  1. It's great that at that age it still retained tannins and acidity. Hope you find some more of these jewels in your cellar.
