Víno Marcinčák Chateau Lány 2003

Variety: Zweigeltrebe + Pinot Noir
Country of origin: Czech Republic
Wine appellation: Moravia, Mikulov sub-appellation
Vintage: 2003
Alcohol content: 12.5%
Color: medium ruby red with light violet hue (amazing considering the vintage)
Bouquet: red sour cherries, black currant
Taste: medium body, good combination of acidity and fruit, similar to taste dominant fruit are sour cherries nicely complemented by black currant and light touch of vanilla at the end, slightly longer finish
Recommended food pairing: duck liver pate
Overall score: 85
Price: ?? bought ages ago
Stopper: cork
This is replacement bottle as the first one had a cork taint. This one is fine and for me this is big surprise due to still ruby red color and mostly considering extremely hot 2003 vintage with very good acidity. The wine is predominantly fruity, but nicely round and balanced with smooth tannins.
P.S. The cuvee was made for President of the Czech republic Vaclav Klaus, hence the name Lany, which is the summer residence for presidents in the CR.
