Ironstone Merlot 2003

Variety: Merlot
Country of origin: USA
Wine appellation: California
Vintage: 2003
Alcohol content: 13.5%
Color: medium garnet red
Bouquet: coffee, chocolate, vanilla, cherries marmalade
Taste: medium body, very smooth and delicate, cherries marmelade tones followed by cola type flavor and sweet tannis,  medium to longer finish
Recommended food pairing: chocolate cake
Overall score: 4+7+11+6+6+50=84
Price: CZK 290 in 2007
Stopper: plastic cork
Forgotten piece from my cellar showed in quite good conditions with probably last year of its life showing nice canned fruit tones and delicate sweet tannins. It ended up on 3rd place for total score and for me sharing the 3rd and 4th with Vinselekt, although both wines are very different.
