Very nice indeed. It is New World, no question about that given its huge fruit and powerful palate, however it is nicely complemented by stunning tannins and black chocolate character, it has perfect bottle maturity and lovely finish. It needs to be slightly more chilled (16 C) to control the alcohol, however alcohol is quite well integrated. For interest check 2007 vintage tasted in April 2012.
Nice to see a local (and often overlooked speciality thanks to focus on Shiraz and whatever the latest cool climate fad is) tasted. I'm a big fan of this region and style.
