Pics updated
So I have decided to decrease the battalion of bottles in my balcony and take pics of the labels. It seems incredible of how much we managed to taste from Xmas.:) Pics are updated in most of the captions, there are still about 12 bottles left.
Cave de Turckheim Alsace Pinot Noir AOC 2008
Variety: 100% Pinot Noir
Country of origin: France
Wine appellation: Alsace
Vintage: 2007
Alcohol content: 12.5%
Color: very pale red with watery meniscus
Bouquet: gentle, fresh red currant
Taste: light body, very fruity, red currant, higher acidity, quite flat
Recommended food pairing: turkey
Overall score: 76
Price: CZK ???
Stopper: plastic cork
This was the first Pinot we have tasted in our small tastings of Pinot Noirs in category CZK 250 - CZK 500. This was quite fruity and light style of Pinot, very straightforward, young with lighter body. I would recommend to drink it instead of rose as it had higher acidity and was very refreshing rather complex type of drinking. Not sure about the price of such rose :)

Plantagenet Omrah Pinot Noir 2005

Color: bricky red wit orange meniscus
Bouquet: quite expressive, cheriies, vanilla, leather
Taste: medum to full body, very round, extractive, wild strawberries, cherries, vanilla, slightly higher alcohol medium to long finish
Recommended food pairing:pork loin
Overall score: 86
Price: CZK404
Stopper: screw cap
VINIFICATION
The must was fermented in open-topped fermenters and hand plunged to extract the right amount of color and ripe tannins from the grape skins. The wine was aged for 12 months in oak, of which 25% was new, during which time the lees were stirred to accentuate the Pinot Noir character of the wine.
This was the second sample of Pinot and quite different from the first one from Alsace. It already had some aged tones, nicely complex bouquet with secondary tones of leather and vanilla, which were very nicely accompanied in the taste by wild strawberries. The wine got better and better after opening. We opened the bottle about 3 hours before tasting and still at the end of tasting it improved.

This was the third sample of Pinot and quite different as well. It had higher color than previous two and also in the bouquet and taste it had stronger taste of cherries accompanied by sweet spices, such as clove. I would not personally get the variety if I did not know.

This was the last botlle of the tasting and clearly the best. Not only for me, it also won the tasting. It was very elegant, nicely matured, velvety in the mouth and pleasure to drink it. Somehow I am lucky with Pinots, because it was brought by me and last time we did the same tasting Anakena Pinot Single Vineyard brough by me did also win :). On the label it is recommended to store it fr 2 -4 years, but probably given the crew cap where the wine ages much slower it was fabulous after 6 years of aging.

Hand sorting of the grapes before destemming. Prefermentive maceration for 6 days at 6ºC. Alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks for 17 days at 27ºC to 30°C. Post ferment maceration for 15 days. Run off and malolactic fermentation.
Ageing
75% aged in French oak barrels for 12 months. 25% in stainless steel tanks.
This was definitely very nice example of Shiraz. Juicy taste with forest fruits combined with tones of lack pepper and black chocolate. Slightly more complex than the Carmenere tasted here, which had bigger body, but was more fruity than this Shiraz, which has also some leather tones and very nice velvety tannins.
P.S. The vintage on the picture does not agree (loaded from web)
